TRANSFER OF LEARNING
Transfer of Learning is a concept that states that when skills, knowledge and/or attitudes that were learned in one situation can be applied and increase aptitude in a separate, seemingly unrelated situation.
COGNITIVE EFFECTS
Art can effect the brain in many different beneficial ways. Focusing on the benefits that can be directly applied to education. For example, music instruction improves basic math function and helps to develop spatial temporal reasoning, taking a basic physical art class improves reading and writing abilities, and engaging in dance can further develop creativity, originality and abstract thought.
CUTBACKS ON ART FUNDING
Over the last eight years, Kentucky has cut over forty percent of funding for the Kentucky Arts Council, an agency that is responsible for developing and promoting support for the arts in Kentucky. Other state art councils and agencies have had to take cuts as well, some even having to do away with their programs entirely.
