CULMINATING PROJECT

DRAYDEN ADKINS

An excerpt from "The Necessity of Art in Education"

In Elementary School, some of our most exciting moments were spent in an art or music classroom. We would draw with pastels; mold bowls out of clay and do our best to listen to the arts teacher who never quite made it out of the 60’s. It didn’t matter what kind of art we took part in, simply that we took part. These classes were crucial to us, whether we realized it then or not. The Arts, in all of its forms, are vital in furthering a student’s mind, their creativity and the advancing of many different skills in various areas. And not just at a young age, engaging in the arts continues to have a strong positive effect on learning and cognitive function throughout a person’s life.
